from host families.
A
brief explanation of the housing program:
We
encourage you to inform members of your community about
the benefits of housing a coach. The housing program
has been in existence since our performance team training
programs began. Throughout the years, the housing program
has become an enormously successful experience for both
the host families and our coaches; in fact, most of
our coaches prefer family housing over hotel accommodations.
Our coaches are friendly and out going. The ages of
our coaches can vary, and are all recruited from United Kingdom.
All
coaches are fully licensed and have a background predominately
in education. They enjoy working with players and most
importantly have a love for the game of soccer. We are
sure that the host families will enjoy this experience!
"The
ESCA coaches were wonderful house guests. We thoroughly
enjoyed having them. They are fine young men who not
only do their job very well, but who become well liked
by all. We will miss them".
"...perfect
gentlemen, excellent guests. We were pleased to have
both ESCA coaches in our home. They are always welcome!"
"What
an experience, both ESCA coaches were great! They were
well mannered, polite, neat and fun. We enjoyed having
them stay with us. I am sure we will have a fight over
who will get to host the ESCA coaches next year!"
"...my
family enjoyed every part of our guests. They were superb.
They brought tremendous joy and laughter to our home.
I would recommend the host family program to all."
"It
was a pleasure to host. What delightful gentlemen to
have as house guests. They were very grateful for all
accommodations which always makes it a pleasure for
a host. They certainly fit in with my family and they
are welcome back anytime!"
"
We really enjoyed housing the ESCA coaches. They were
a joy to have in my home. They both have a sense of
humour and we laughed and joked all week!"
"Everybody enjoyed the experience !"
"Placed
staff in suites at local hotel and took them to host
families for meals. Host families were very impressed
with demeanour and attitude of the ESCA Staff."
Most Commonly Asked Questions
How
can I learn about my coach before they arrive?
Unfortunately, individual coaches' profiles are not
possible prior to arrival.
Can
I host more than one coach?
Yes - this would be great ! Normally, families host
one coach, although many have enjoyed housing two or
three coaches at a time.
When
do the coaches arrive and depart ?
Your coaches will arrive on the Sunday before the program
and will usually stay until the following Saturday or
Sunday. This, of course, will depend on how far they
have to travel to their next program.
What
do we provide for the coach?
We ask if you could provide our coaches with a bed,
use of showering facilities, meals and use of a washer/
dryer during their stay.
Do
I need to provide transportation?
No, ESCA provides transportation for all coaches. We
do ask that for transportation purposes, it is helpful
if the coaches stay reasonably close to each other as
they usually travel in one car.
* Please note that due to insurance guidelines, coaches
are not allowed to provide rides for players to and
from program.
How
can the coach learn more about our family before they
arrive?
Unfortunately, this is not possible prior to arrival.
However, once your coach arrives, we recommend that
you take the time to tell them about your family and
detail your house rules. This is the best way to assure
that everyone understands what you expect from your
guest. Some rules may include your expectations for
curfew, use of your phone, meals, etc. As part of ESCA
training, we review our expectations of how they will
conduct themselves in
your home. They are your guests, and as such they are
to pick up after themselves and follow your house rules.
They are aware that they are to treat you as they would
like to be treated.
Are
all the coaches from England ?
Yes. All of ESCA coaches are from different areas within
the United Kingdom.
Will
the coach be using our phone?
ESCA coaches are not permitted to use the phones at
family housing without the host's permission. Even with
permission, calls should be toll-free, local or with
a calling card provided by ESCA.
Can
we schedule sightseeing experiences for the coach?
It is up to the host families to decide if they want
to schedule these experiences. Families must realize,
however, that the coach's first priority is to work
on the program. This in addition to any social activities
scheduled between the club and families (i.e., barbecues),
makes for a full week for the coach. Keep in mind that
any social activities scheduled are
strictly voluntary.
Who
do I call if I have any concerns during the week?
If you have any concerns or housing issues during or
before your coach arrives, then please do not hesitate
to contact us at
